Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition: New Story or Most Wanted?

Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition adds two new pieces of content to Sucker Punch’s samurai adventure: Echoes of Sekigahara, a story expansion, and Most Wanted, a single-player combat survival mode. The Complete Edition content went live with patch v2.0 on October 1, 2026, a day later in parts of Asia and in Australia and New Zealand. For players weighing a return, the Complete Edition question is simple: is the new story worth it, or is Most Wanted the real draw?

What Changed

Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition content arrived through patch v2.0 on October 1, 2026, with parts of Asia, Australia and New Zealand getting it on October 2. The Complete Edition adds Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted to the existing game.

In the Complete Edition, Echoes of Sekigahara splits Atsu’s story between the present and her past at the Battle of Sekigahara, and introduces Nagato, a figure from that past. The Complete Edition expansion also opens Ashoro Foothills, a valley seized by the Vipers, with new enemies, heavy weapons, mythic tales and armor.

The Complete Edition’s Most Wanted is a solo, roguelike-style mode in which players choose between Atsu, Oyuki, Nagato and Jin Sakai. In the Complete Edition mode, players take bounties on members of the Yōtei Six, fight through waves, pick perks during runs and spend Mon on unlocks between runs.

Even without the upgrade, patch 2.0 brought free additions for all owners: a Beauty of Yōtei viewing mode, extra music for Watanabe Mode, armor looks that can be kept while using another set’s stats, and a high contrast setting. These patch 2.0 features are free, not part of the paid content.

Sucker Punch says patch 2.07 on October 9 further fixed lost or blocked Most Wanted progress and a black screen after some Echoes of Sekigahara missions. Patch 2.07 also fixed content not being marked complete.

Sucker Punch says patch 2.08 on October 23 cut the viper rations needed for Dye Vendor Trade Routes and fixed New Game+ recipes and Echoes of Sekigahara softlocks. The studio says patch 2.08 also further addressed lost Most Wanted progress, and these patch 2.08 fixes are announced changes, not proof that every player is now unaffected.

What Players Like About the Update

Players say the Complete Edition’s Echoes of Sekigahara gives Atsu welcome backstory and depth. Reviewers of the Complete Edition say the story fixes some character issues they had with the base game, and players who finished it describe Atsu’s growth and an emotional pull they did not expect from the Complete Edition expansion.

Players also call the Complete Edition’s new region beautiful and dense. Others say the Complete Edition map is small but packed, and that the size felt right.

Most Wanted draws the most enthusiastic Complete Edition reactions. Players call the Complete Edition mode addictive, say each character plays differently, and some say Most Wanted pulled them away from the story itself.

On price, players say the Complete Edition upgrade is worth it for the content it adds.

What Players Dislike About the Update

The main Complete Edition request is more variety in Most Wanted. Players want the Complete Edition mode to offer stealth approaches, outfit customization for its characters, its own cosmetics or co-op, rather than only straight battles.

Some players who return after finishing the story say the Complete Edition expansion’s mid-game placement feels odd, since it is set before later events. Players note the Complete Edition expansion unlocks once two of Atsu’s targets are dealt with, which surprises those who start it after the ending.

In the first days after the Complete Edition launch, some players reported Most Wanted levels or progress resetting or not registering. Those Complete Edition reports came before the later fix patches described above.

Where Opinions Differ

Size is the clearest Complete Edition split. In the reviewed reports, some players call the Complete Edition expansion short or smaller than Iki Island, while others call the Complete Edition a substantial package for the price.

The Complete Edition story’s ending divides players too. In the reviewed reports, some found the Complete Edition expansion’s ending predictable and flat, while others found its story emotional.

Difficulty in the Complete Edition’s Most Wanted is debated as well. In the reviewed reports, some players find Complete Edition bosses such as the Kitsune bounty punishing, while another calls the mode too easy.

Who This Update May Appeal To

Based on these reports, the Complete Edition may appeal most to players who enjoyed the combat and want a replayable Most Wanted challenge. The Complete Edition may also suit story fans who want more of Atsu’s past.

Launch reviews of the Complete Edition rate Echoes of Sekigahara highly and put a full run of its region at about ten hours or less. Those Complete Edition reviews find Most Wanted fun and replayable, with one calling it somewhat shallow.

What to Watch Next

In the US, Sony prices the Complete Edition at $69.99 USD, while people who already own the game can buy the Complete Edition Upgrade for $14.99 USD. The Complete Edition also includes Legends, a separate online co-op mode that requires PlayStation Plus and is not part of Most Wanted.
